// SPRING BREAK — WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK

Why let a small issue like lack of cash ruin your mid-term getaway? Whether you like it hot or cold, here are 10 ways to get the most from your travel dollar during Reading Week, with savings tips for transportation, accommodation, meals and packages.
- Buy in bulk. Corral a group of friends or classmates for group discounts on a warm-weather getaway.
- Big white. For skiing and boarding trips, try booking a large chalet with lots of bedrooms and split the cost. If you're travelling with friends for a beach vacation, consider going four to a room and using the pull-out couch.
- Go exclusive. RBC partner Carlson Wagonlit Travel has an entire website site featuring exclusive travel deals for students who have RBC No Limit Banking for Students™.
- Get points. Earn double points when you book any Carlson Wagonlit travel with your RBC Royal Bank Visa* Classic II Student card — or triple points when you book a CWT Vacation Club package at one of the hand-picked resorts, and tours offering RBC Visa cardholders extra value.
- Try the alternative. Choosing a venue that's a little less popular can net you big savings. For example, choose a ski resort that's closer to you, rather than flying across the country. Or compare the prices of different beach towns in the same country or state.
- Walk a block. By staying a couple of blocks from the beach or a few minutes from the lifts, you could save a ton of money in accommodation.
- Be an early bird. From lift tickets to holiday packages, you could save 10%, 15% or more when you book in advance, so try to plan early.
- Live like a local. Booking a condo or apartment is sometimes less expensive than a hotel room, plus you can save huge amounts on meals and snacks.
- Pick up flyers. Look through booklets and coupons found in the packages provided by tour companies, at your hotel and at information centres. You'll score big savings on food, drinks, groceries and local attractions.
- Flash. Showing your ISIC student card gets you deep discounts on transportation, hostels, meals and many other travel expenses.
